Beginning the Path to Recovery: І part of the training course for psychologists working with people suffered from war held in Lviv

On June 3-6, the first part of the second training course for practicing psychologists and specialists working with people suffered from war was held in Lviv.

The event was aimed at enhancing the professional qualifications of the participants. It intended to familiarize them with the principles of providing psychosocial support in emergency and crisis situations, ways of involving the host community in helping IDPs, tools for finding and applying resources and capabilities, multi-level integrated support, and so on.

Over four days, more than 30 participants immersed themselves in intensive study and discussion of important topics. Trainers Olena Sudakova and Olesia Druzhyna prepared many practical exercises that helped reinforce the theoretical information. As an example, participants were divided into groups where they had to practice their actions in various emergency situations from different positions. Participants also were supposed to offer solutions for specific "clients" based on their psychological profiles.

These training sessions had a significant beneficial effect for participants. They had the opportunity to become acquainted with the latest methods and approaches for working with people suffered from war, to improve their skills, and to expand their professional horizons, which will help them provide more effective support to those in need.

Additionally, the training created a favorable platform for the exchange of experience. Practicing psychologists and specialists from different regions met, discussed their methods and techniques, and found common paths for further collaboration.

The group is looking forward to two more parts of the course, where they will learn just as much useful information for effectively supporting people suffered from war.

The event was held in the frames of the "Peace Building and Conflict Resolution in Ukraine – Step Forward" project, implemented with the support of the German Federal Foreign Office’s funds by IFA (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen), Funding programme zivik.
