Psychosocial assistance in emergencies: training for psychologists took place in Zaporizhzhia

On June 28-30 the "Basic principles of providing psychosocial assistance in emergencies and crises" training was implemented in Zaporizhzhia. The event took place within the "Crisis prevention and Peace building in Ukraine – Time to Act!" project, supported with German Federal Foreign Office’s funds by IFA (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen), Funding programme zivik.

30 people took part in the training: practicing psychologists, employees of psychological centres, civic organizations that assist people affected by the armed conflict in the East in mental recovery.

"The main purpose of the training was to master the basic principles of providing psychosocial assistance in emergencies and crises and to deepen and acquire new skills", the trainers stressed out.

A noteworthy detail is that all the group members provide psychosocial assistance as part of their profession. The positive effect of the training has been the fact that the group was interested in the topic, as was shown by follow-up questions; it helped to improve the dynamics and the level of material assimilation.
