Self-organization of population, activism and aspects of legislation: round tables took place in Borova and Zaporizhia

The round tables called "Practical aspects of creation and action of bodies of self-organization of population" were conducted on 11 of December in Borova, Kharkiv region and on 14 of December in Zaporizhzhia.
Both events were attended by representatives of power authorities, media, NGOs and local activists, who gathered to discuss opportunities and challenges decentralization reform brings today.
In particular, participants of round tables discussed the importance of mastering the legal framework, financial aspects, mechanisms of creation and the principles of work of bodies of self-organization of population. They talked about main achievements of BSOPs concept in Ukraine over the years, tax conditions, possible risks, including problems of raiding, political influence, etc.
Expert of the Center for Urban Development on working with local authorities and the implementation of decentralization reform spoke about the tools of improvement of local governance and answered questions.
The training was implemented in coperation with German organization "Media in Cooperation and Transition" (MiCT) using the German Federal Foreign Office resources.
