German Unity Day celebration in Kharkiv

On October 5, friends and partners of the Consulate General of German Republic in Donetsk gathered in Kharkiv to celebrate the national holiday - German Unity Day, RUNY representatives were also invited to take part.

The solemn part was opened by the national anthem of the Federal Republic of Germany, the anthem of the European Union and the national anthem of Ukraine, beautifully performed by the choir of students of Kharkiv National University of Arts named after Ivan Kotliarevskyi, under the baton of Honoured Artist of Ukraine, Professor Serhii Prokopov. The event was attended by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine, the Head of the Kharkiv Regional Administration, the Head of the Kharkiv Regional Council, as well as partners of the Consulate General in the field of culture, education, economy and civil society.

Respected German and Ukrainian writers, gathered in Kharkiv for the German-Ukrainian project "Paper Bridge", and an official delegation from the sister city of Nuremberg were also among the guests.

In his speech, Consul General of German Republic Mr Wolfgang Moessinger thanked all the guests for the excellent and intensive cooperation over the past year. Ambassador Reichel stressed the role of diplomatic relations between Germany and Ukraine, which has been existed for 25 years already, and the importance of visa-free travel to the Schengen countries for the citizens of Ukraine.
