This year's final training on investigative journalism was implemented in Odesa

On November 15-17, the second module of the second training course for investigators-beginners was being implemented in Odesa. Public activists and journalists from different regions of Ukraine took part in the event. Participants acquired practical skills and deepened their knowledge of investigative journalism.
Trainers:
- Yulia Zaltsberh, the IFES Ukraine trainer on regulation of financing of electoral campaigns, expert on political finances and electoral processes with experience in promulgation and implementation of political finance reform in Ukraine
- Oleksandr Kurbatov, an investigative journalist with 24 years of experience; cooperates with independent investigative projects "Slidstvo.Info" and "Our Money" produced by BIHUS.INFO.
During the event, the trainers shared their knowledge and experience with the participants. In particular, they talked on the following topics:
- methods of collecting, verifying and organizing information collected in preparation for the investigation;
- interview methods;
- basics of storytelling;
- liability for violation of political funding requirements.
Besides, participants conducted and presented group groundwork – their own investigations of the political parties and organizations funding.
This is the final training in the "Investigative Journalism for Transparency" project in 2019. There is a lot of work ahead. Using the knowledge and skills gained, the project participants pursue their own investigations, and based on the results of the evaluation of their work, the winners will be awarded valuable prizes. Let us remind you that more than 50 works were prepared last year.
