The first part of the training course on investigative journalism took place in Kharkiv

The first part of the six-day training course "Technologies of Investigative Journalism" took place in Kharkiv.

In addition to learning the basics of storytelling, working with hypotheses, searching for topics, stories and characters for investigations, participants practiced to use different databases and registers.

The most discussed were the Unified State Register of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Individual Entrepreneurs and Public Associations, the Judiciary Portal and the Unified State Register of Judgments, the State Register of Rights to Real Estate, the State Register of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs, Unified State Register of Declarations, Catalogue of Research Databases, Maritime Register of Shipping of Ukraine, Declarations of family ties of judges, Public cadastral map of Ukraine and alternative unofficial cadastral map - GISFile, Prozorro - State tenders and other resources.

The training was attended by 21 participants from all over Ukraine: Kharkiv, Berdiansk, Odesa, Dnipro, Lviv, Kyiv, Ostroh, Sumy, Poltava, Kamin-Kashirskyi, Vinnytsia, Irpin, Mykolaiv region. The second part is scheduled for September 7-9.

- Yevhenia Motorevska, a journalist and producer of "Investigation.info" project, winner of the award for outstanding achievements in investigative journalism from Central European Initiative (CEI) and South-East Europe Media Organisation, Laureate of the National Prize for Investigative Journalism, winner of the Ukrainian-Polish Journalism Competition.

- Maria Zemlianska, employee of the bureau of investigative journalism "Svidomo", journalist of the project "Investigation.info" and TV program "Our Money with Denys Bihus", winner of this year's journalistic contest "Honour of the profession".

The training was organized within the "Investigative Journalism – the Arrowhead of Transparency" project in cooperation with a German organization "Europäische Medien Initiative e.V." using the German Federal Foreign Office resources.
