EMPOWERING WOMEN IN UKRAINE - STEP FORWARD
The project was aimed to motivate women to play more active role in all areas of Ukrainian society as well as to build their capacity to implement their initiatives. It is suggested to be reached through the following activities:
✔ promotion of women's activism at the local level;
✔ overcoming negative stereotypical attitude towards the role of women and related discriminatory phenomena;
✔ conducting gender equality educational events for media representatives.
The target group consisted of women activists, representatives of women NGOs, student governments, gender equality movements, women rights protectors, media representatives, educational and cultural institutions.
As a result of the project, women increased their motivation to play active role in Ukrainian society; they have high capacity to implement their initiatives to improve the situation and to get support. Media-representatives are introduced to the topic of women’s empowerment and gender equality and presented these topics to the audience of 50 000 people. Youth activists drew attention of local citizens to the importance of gender equality. The general level of women activism and gender equality is increased.
