JOURNALISM PROTECTION FOR THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH
The project Goal is to protect journalists’ rights in Eastern Ukraine and to promote the freedom of expression through organizing an educational and awareness-raising campaign for media representatives and civic activists.
The following activities were implemented within the project:
✔ studying creative techniques (Forum Theater, Loesje, Edbasting, Fotoromazzo, Metaphorical Maps, etc.) for community activists
✔ conducting street actions to promote freedom of speech
✔ development and publication of methodical materials on the topics of trainings
As a result, local media representatives gained proper knowledge and skills of their rights protection and made publications in their outlets for other journalists to share the information. Youth activists conducted street actions using creative methodologies and draw attention of local citizens to the importance of freedom of expression. Officials got recommendations on how to improve situation with journalists’ rights abuse. The general level of journalists’ rights violations and freedom of expression violations in selected regions was significantly decreased.
The project was implemented with the support of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Donetsk with a location in Dnipro.
