Modern challenges accentuate the growing need for journalists to obtain additional knowledge about the socio-political system, the functioning of government institutions and civil society.

National high school cannot yet give an adequate response to these queries, while remaining largely old fashioned – teachers provide lectures, and students automatically write the information down. In today's world, the same and even better knowledge can be obtained from the Internet. Thus, the formal education is far behind the informal, because not only the professional education of journalists is a problem, but also the dissemination of information about complex communication processes and opportunities among the widest possible range of citizens, as well as the dangers of mass media influence, the ability to use freely available online tools, etc.

Thanks to modern technologies it has become possible for millions to speak freely and to be heard, and for many for the first time.
